Sundance Systems Inc. Updates Boeing Connectivity

Smart controls in building automation systems are increasingly  becoming the “new normal” in commercial structures, according to Dennis Withem, president of Sundance Systems Inc. “Smart buildings” monitor and control what the industry calls “building automation systems”. They track and regulate such functions as heating, air conditioning and lighting as well as oversee other systems such as security, fire sprinkler systems, and elevator operations.

Integrating smart devices with a Computer Aided Dispatch System  is a logical extension of control in businesses operating in the 21st century.

As a forward thinking company, Boeing decided to fully integrate it’s monitoring systems to automatically dispatch security guards.  Management looked to their dispatch software provider for help.  Sundance Systems has been working with Boeing for over 5 years since their 2005  purchase of Sundance CAD.

“Automated management systems are linked directly to a company’s network, sounding  alarms when elements are not operating within set parameters,” Withem stated.  “Our job is to link  the cause and effect sides of the equation.    We wrote a new interface to allow the building management system to speak with the dispatch software.”   Whether it is a security breach or simply a power surge in the HVAC system, central controllers can quickly dispatch appropriate personnel to the scene, efficiently saving time and energy .

Lyndhurst PD Goes High Tech With Mobile Laptops

Mobile laptops in police cruisers have been shown to increase officer safety  with faster access to pertinent information and alerts, according to Dennis Withem, president of Sundance Systems Inc.

When Lyndhurst Ohio Police Department wanted to take the next step in enhancing their safety software technology, tying mobile laptops into the central Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System became Mission 1.

“Immediate access to vital records, call history and warnings as well as the silent dispatching, self init, and chatting features provide critical information at the fingertips of our front line safety service personnel,” Withem states.

Officers are afforded field access to NCIC and state databases to enable them to make informed decisions quickly when facing potentially dangerous situations.

Lyndhurst Police Department has utilized the Sundance Systems CAD/RMS program for well over 12 years.  The implementation of the mobile data tie in will be completed within a month, Withem said.
